I am trying to find the family of one JANE SKAIFE, who married Robert Benson at St Cuthbert's Church in Pateley Bridge on 24 November, 1830. Robert Benson became a wealthy textile manufacturer and lived at Woodfield House in New York, Summerbridge. I have located a baptismal record for a Jane Skaife on 3 December, 1809, at St Mary's, Pateley Bridge, which shows her parents as Robert and Nancy Skaife, but I can find no records of them. Jane Benson died in Pateley Bridge in 1857. Can anyone help?

Robert was possibly the son of William Scaife and Jane Smith and baptised 13 Feb 1786 at Pateley Bridge. He was a butcher. I don't have further details for Robert. Hope this helps. Bernard
The Baptismal Register for St. Mary's Church, Pateley Bridge, records the baptism on 8th August 1830 of an "illegitimate" child named William Skaife to Jane Skaife of Low Hall, Dacre. I take this to be Jane daughter of Robert and Nancy Skaife unless anyone has an alternative.
